Welcome

Aikido is a Japanese Martial Art developed by Morihei Ueshiba. By blending his peaceful philosophical beliefs with his broad experience of Japanese Budo, he discovered an art of peaceful reconciliation. Physical strength is not required to use these techniques of self-defense, and along the way there is no predicting what you may discover about yourself. Non-competitive and not for profit, the dojo of Nashville Aikikai welcomes students of all levels.

We're based in Nashville, Tennessee and affiliated with Aikido Schools of Ueshiba.

THE NEXT INTRODUCTORY CLASS WILL START ON AUGUST 23, 2010

Nashville Aikikai offers an eight week Introductory Class for people with no previous aikido experience.   Classes meet every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM..  Students are encouraged, but not required, to start at or near the beginning of a session.  Please wear loose-fitting clothing, such as a T-shirt and long sweatpants.  There is no need to preregister.  Please arrive at least 30 minutes before class on the first day to allow time for paperwork.  We look forward to seeing you at the dojo!

Our new location is in East Nashville, at 1701B Fatherland Street, next to the stained glass store. To get there, take 1-24 to the Shelby Street exit.  Head away from downtown.  Turn left on 17th and you will see the building on the right on the corner of 17th and Fatherland (Link to Map).  There is plenty of on street parking in the area. We thank everyone for all their hard work on this project!

There are no seminars currently scheduled.  However, plans are in the works for a seminar celebrating our move to the new location sometime this fall.  Please check back for updates.
